Obituary of Harold Pirkle

Harold E. Pirkle, 80, of Buford, GA, died Friday, October 8, 2021. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 10:30 – 11:30 AM at the funeral home.

Harold is survived by his wife Barbara Pirkle, his sister Joyce Moon (Duluth), three children, Philip Pirkle (Lilburn), Troy Pirkle (Woodstock), and Tracy Wright—husband Tommy (Flowery Branch), and his two grandchildren Emma Wright (Atlanta) and Kelsey Roland—husband Lonnie (Suwanee).  Harold is preceded by his parents Clara Pirkle Hansard and Olen Pirkle Sr., and by his brother Olen Pirkle Jr.

Harold was born and raised in Norcross, GA and was a lifelong resident of Georgia. He attended Norcross High School and graduated from West Gwinnett in 1959. He played football in high school and enjoyed drag racing as a hobby. Harold married the love of his life, Barbara Pirkle, in 1966. He worked in the body shop at General Motors for 37 years, where he met numerous lifelong friends. After retirement in 2001, Harold spent many days with his granddaughters, children and wife of 55 years making his famous fried chicken for Sunday family lunches. Harold will be greatly missed by his family and friends.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, in memory of Harold.
